A few years ago, while Mayor, he became irritated by planes from
nearby JFK International Airport flying over the stadium - no
doubt concerned at the image of New York as a responsive host of
major events being tarnished.
As all New York airports fall within the authority of the Mayor,
he promptly called his office and had all air traffic
immediately diverted from the skies over the US Open - much to
the displeasure of the poor folks of the Bronx who had to suffer
the noisy consequences... |
