Two of the most authoritative sources of news - the Times of London and the BBC - have now taken up the issue of the tennis wild card system with articles about British players who have apparently taken advantage of wild card 'opportunities' in Challenger events to acquire the single ATP ranking point needed to give them almost automatic entry into Futures events - at the expense of more deserving players who have earned their place in competitive play.
