Born on June 28, 1978 and raised in Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec, this 5-year member of the Canadian Davis Cup Team knew nothing about tennis until he was 11 years old when he saw a match on TV and asked his parents about the sport. They gave him an old racquet and he started hitting rocks with it - which prompted his Dad, a former professional hockey player for the Quebec Nordiques, to get Simon some lessons.

Less than 10 years later Simon was ready to turn pro and, in 2001, achieved a world ranking of 260 in singles and 150 in doubles before knee tendonitis took him out of the game for nearly 3 months. The highlight of his doubles career was beating the number one players in the World, Nestor and Stolle. It's been a tough battle to regain his form but he feels good about his future tennis career. "There have been some extreme highs and some really bad lows", he explains. "It's balancing life's ups and downs that lets you attain your personal goals".

On breaks from touring as a tennis pro he likes to go back home to Cap-de-la-Madeleine where he can relax, fish, play plenty of golf and just get to hang out with friends and family. "My older brother, Maxime, is an Olympic paddler and not only a great athlete but also my best friend. My dad taught me how to believe and work hard for what I want in life and I have the greatest, loving Mom anyone could ask for - she is the life of our family".
