Martin and Alex Corretja
of Spain, who won a tough doubles match last night (see
yesterday's report) were spotted on the practice court this
morning. Alex not only has to play singles against Marcelo
Rios later on today, but they also have to be ready for
another doubles match tonight against the Argentines Lucas
Arnold and Guillermo Caņas.
Despite his busy schedule Corretja had time to sign a few
autographs and show us a cute little smile.

| Spectators
who love to watch practice-court-sessions were in luck today -
Andre Agassi and Venus
Williams both were within arms-reach of the general
public. But in case you wonder - no, they did not
practice together!

Jelena Dokic of Yugoslavia
who is teamed with Martinez in the doubles draw.

| Tennis-dog "Tina"
is keeping a watchful and critical eye on her 'boss' Arantxa
Sanchez-Vicario of Spain.
Dustin Brown of Jamaica
is getting ready for the Target Cup, a junior tournament that
starts tomorrow.

Was anyone actually playing any real matches today or
were they just 'messing about' on the practice courts? |

Corretja of Spain not only had to battle against Marcelo
Rios of Chile, but also against the brutal South
Florida heat and the loud and persistent support for
his opponent from a stand full of Chilean fans!
In the end it was all a bit to much for the Spaniard and he
surrendered with a 6-2, 6-2 loss, but not before breaking a
racquet and tossing it into the photographer's pit (see the
evidence in the photo
below)! |
