 Second Round Matches

The face of a winner.....

Robert Kendrick of the USA beat Jean-Rene Lisnard of France 7-5, 7-5

Vladimir Voltchkov of Belarus beat Sargis Sargsian of Armenia 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 ret
Sargsian apparently suffered leg cramps towards the end of the second set and, in spite of being in obvious and severe pain, tried for three more games to continue the match. He was finally forced to retire - and leave the evidence of his frustration on the court...

Jan-Michael Gambill of the USA seeded 4 beat Justin Gimelstob of the USA 7-5, 7-5

Flavio Saretta of Brazil  beat Vincent Spadea of the USA 6-4, 3-6, 6-4
The picture above right is of Vince Spadea's feet as he serves... Yes, he was serving in the direction of the back of his feet and , no, he never did get a 'foot fault' call...

Around and About

After his 2nd round win over Jean-Renee Lisnard of France, Robert Kendrick was interviewed live at the event on Fox Sports news. He didn't take much persuading - but we're not sure what influenced him more - his delight in his new-found fame or the charms of the Fox Sports representative...

Spectators modeling the new South Florida facial fashions...

Live music each evening is a new feature added to the event this year.

The Ladies (?) of Pompano Beach....

Drew Evert and Michelle
