Amelie Mauresmo withdraws from Tournament
Amilie Mauresmo of France was forced to withdraw from the tournament
just an hour before before her quarterfinal match against Fabiola Zuluaga.
She injured her back in her previous match against Alicia Molik and the injury worsened as she practiced prior to today's match.
"When I hit some shots I can feel really strong pain," she explained tearfully.
"The other thing is it could get worse if I play. The best thing to so is to rest."
Andre Agassi of the USA beat Sebastien Grosjean of France 6-2 2-0 (retired injured)
 
Justine Henin-Hardenne of Belgium beat Lindsay Davenport of the USA 7-5 6-3
Marat Safin of Russia beat Andy Roddick of the USA 2-6 6-3 7-5 6-7(0) 6-4
And, as it was Marat's birthday, the crowd sang happy birthday at the end of the match
